外觀

莖體呈球形至短圓柱形，表皮具明顯藍綠至灰綠色蠟粉感，頂端略凹；具有突出的銳稜狀肋與黃色刺，成熟植株可由基部產生側芽

原生地

墨西哥中部至東部，明確記錄於瓜納華托州、伊達爾戈州、克雷塔羅州及聖路易波托西州；主要來源視為墨西哥特有種。

棲地

海拔約 550–2300 m 的乾燥落葉林與乾燥灌叢，常見於石灰岩丘陵及多岩石、礫石的排水良好地形。

全日照至明亮光線；溫室栽培資料亦建議明亮的過濾光

澆水

生長期澆水後應讓介質充分排水並乾燥，避免長時間潮濕；冬季保持近乎乾燥

• 種小名 glaucescens 源自表示藍綠色的拉丁語詞根，指向植株莖體特有的藍綠色外觀。
• 本種最初於 1828 年以 Echinocactus glaucescens 發表，1922 年由 Britton 與 Rose 移入 Ferocactus。
• 存在無刺型 Ferocactus glaucescens forma nuda（亦稱 inermis）。
